CAIRO – 18 February 2021: The Cairo Criminal Court on Thursday ordered sentencing head of the democratic and progressive Social Justice Party for life on forgery charges.

The verdicts of the criminal court can be appealed.

Head of the party Mohamed Abdel Aal, his secretary and another person face the same sentence for forging an official document to illegally seize $100,000 from the bank account of Abdel Aal’s heirs.

The left-leaning party, established in 1990s, adopts a non-secular democratic and progressive approach.

It calls for securing equal duties and rights and achieving justice for all Egyptian citizens.

Dispute emerged between political activist Mahmoud Farghal and Abdel Aal on the presidency of the party in 2010.
