CAIRO – 14 February 2021: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry received a phone call from Foreign Minister of Burkina Faso, Alpha Barry, discussing prospects for cooperation between the two countries and a number of regional and continental issues of mutual concern, said spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez in a statement on Sunday.

Shoukry congratulated his Burkinabe counterpart on his election as a Member of Parliament while maintaining his ministerial position he has held since President Kaboré came to power, Hafez said.

The Egyptian minister also affirmed Egypt's keenness to support cooperation with Burkina Faso in all fields including security, health, agriculture, and energy, outlining the Egyptian side's integrated efforts and the capacity-building assistance it provides bilaterally to Burkina Faso through the training courses provided via the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development, Hafez continued.

“The two ministers exchanged views on the latest developments at the level of the African continent, and agreed on the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between them during the upcoming stage,” the ambassador said.
