CAIRO – 8 February 2021:  Although a decline has been witnessed in the number of COVID-19 infections, a senior official reported that a number of cases had contracted the virus more than once.

Mohamed Awad Tag el-Din, advisor to President for Health Affairs, said that the number of Coronavirus infections is declining, but there are still cases that need hospitals, ensuring the importance of abiding by the precautionary measures to avoid the spread of the virus.

He further added that all COVID-19 vaccines have same function, and they are all in the antibodies they create to combat the complications of the virus.

Tag el-Din explained that after the infection, antibodies are created for a period of time that is yet undetermined, but last for around six months. He continued that after this period, the person can contract the virus again, even after receiving the vaccination.

That’s why he noted that there are a number of cases who had contracted the virus again after recovery, but with less complications’ level.

The senior official added that there are two types of vaccination; one that provides full immunity, where possibility for infection is low and without symptoms, while the second type provides partial immunity with less symptoms compared to those who do not receive the vaccine.
