CAIRO – 5 February 2021: The Suez traffic department announced on Friday reopening the Zafarana road on the direction leading to Suez’s Ain Sokhna city after weather improved.

The Zafarana/Catherine road was closed on Thursday and traffic was transferred to Al-Galala road to avoid any car accidents as a result of accumulated stones and sand amid torrential rains in South Sinai.

The Taba/Nuweiba road was also closed but was later reopened on Thursday. The General Authority for Roads and Bridges and Land Transport said said heavy equipment has been used to remove the debris from the road before it was reopened.

An official at the Egyptian Meteorological Authority expects light to moderate rainfall on parts of South Sinai and the Red Sea mountains on Saturday.
