Egypt’s President Sisi receives written message from Nigerian counterpart

CAIRO - 28 January 2021: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received on Wednesday a written message from Nigerian counterpart Muhammadu Buhari delivered by Nigerian Ambassador Joseph Kishi.

 

Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady revealed in a statement that the message included a number of matters pertinent to the bilateral relations, particularly in the economic and trade sectors. Furthermore, it tapped on counterterrorism affairs as well as political consultations between both countries and the resumption of a relevant joint committee.

 

The message also tackled exchanging experience in light of COVID-19 repercussions, and Egyptian support to Nigerian development endeavors by cooperating in infrastructure projects, particularly roads and power generation.

 

The Nigerian ambassador expressed keenness for Egypt to organize training courses for Nigerian security elements on combating terrorism highlighting that Egypt constitutes a pillar of stability on the continent.

 

On his side, President Sisi asked the ambassador to extend his greetings to President Buhari hailing Nigeria for its commitment to concerting African efforts to achieve common interests and face common challenges.
