CAIRO – 2 July 2017: The Iranian opposition in exile is seeking to place the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on a list of global terrorist entities on charges of their connection to Iran’s illegal missiles project, Iranian opposition leader Mohammad Irani said on Sunday.

The remarks came during the annual National Council of Resistance of Iran conference in Paris held by a coalition of Iranian opposition groups in exile, where political leader Maryam Rajavi urged the international community to hand over all of Iran’s member seats in regional and international institutions to opposition leaders.

Rajavi, who heads the opposition group People's Mujahedin of Iran, reaffirmed that the only solution to achieve peace in the Middle East region is to remove the current Iranian regime.

Irani told Youm7 during the Paris conference which took place on Saturday, that the opposition must work harder to convince the international community that opposition forces will be a successful substitute to the regime in Iran.

Previous U.S. president Barack Obama’s softer stance towards negotiations with the Iranian regime did not achieve the hoped-for resolutions, so Iranian oppositionists must work to overcome this policy’s consequences, Irani noted.
