CAIRO - 13 January 2020: The Minister of Local Development, Mahmoud Sharawi, confirmed the closure of 25,000 shops and cafes in 17 governorates due to a violation of the time of organizing the opening and closing of their shops and cafes due to the Corona virus.

In a statement on Wednesday, Shaarawy said that there is constant coordination and cooperation between the leaders of the local department in the governorates and the bodies concerned to apply the preventive measures against coronavirus and strictly face any violation of these measures.

The decision comes within the framework of the keenness of the state on the safety and health of the citizens to limit the spread of COVID 19, Shaarawy said.

The decision also comes to necessitate abiding by wearing face masks and keeping social distance in addition to preventing gatherings, he added.

Shaarawy said that heads of the neighborhoods and the cities will collect a 50-pound immediate fine on those who do not abide by wearing face masks.
