CAIRO – 2 July 2017: Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to the United Nations (UN) Abdullah Al-Maalami said on Sunday that Qatar insists on destabilizing the safety of Saudi and the regional countries, and continues on supporting terrorism that has been threatening the whole world.

The official statement came following the declaration of Doha's foreign minister on Saturday that demands made for Qatar by Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt, were designed to be rejected.

Al-Maalami continued in his statement that was published by Saudi’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the four Arab states took a sovereign decision regarding cutting ties with Qatar to maintain security in the region and pressure Qatar to stop supporting terrorism.

“Qatar chose Iran to be its ally and kept on supporting terror groups for twenty years despite being aware of their plans against the regional countries." Al-Maalami said
He also added that the four countries have long attempted to maintain the situation with Qatar, and had given it several chances in 2013 and 2014 to stop supporting terrorism and to stop interfering in the internal affairs of other countries, however, Qatar never responded and all efforts failed.
