CAIRO – 3 January 2021: The German government issued permits for arms exports to Egypt worth at least 725 million euros in 2020, Egyptian ambassador to Berlin Khaled Galal Abdel Hamid told DPA on Sunday.

With such size of arm deals, Egypt, for the second time in a row, is ranked number 2 of the main countries receiving German weapons and military equipment, he added.

“The large-scale German arms exports to Egypt prove the mutual trust between the two countries,” he said.

Egypt has received four class 209/1400mod submarines - called S43 sailed- from Germany. The vessel is capable of launching torpedoes and missiles from the depth to the surface, and has been equipped with the most modern combat systems, sailing systems, communications and electronic war systems.
