One police officer, 3 criminals killed in exchange of gunfire in Egypt’s Damietta

CAIRO – 21 December 2020: One police officer and other three criminals were killed, Monday in exchange of gunfire in Egypt’s Damietta according to Ministry of interior.

Based on an investigation’s results a group of four criminals with previous illegal record were affirmed to be involved in drugs trading. Accordingly, police launched a ride on the criminals’ hideout and exchanged gunfire which resulted in killing one of the police officers, three criminals, and arresting the fourth criminal.

Inside the hideout, the forces found two automatic rifles, a shotgun, pistol, 30 kg of the drugs and one kilogram of hashish.

On December 14, two criminals were killed in an exchange of gunfire with the security forces, in another ride on drug dealers.

 According to Interior's Ministry the criminals’ hideout was located on10th of Ramadan- Bilbeis Road.

Last April, The Ministry of Interior thwarted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of Hashish, Marijuana and Opium, which weighed more than a ton, and is worth L.E. 30 million.

 This came as part of the ministry’s efforts to combat crime in all forms, especially in the field of drug trafficking.

 The General Department for Drug Control in the Anti-Drug and Organized Crime Sector monitored the moves of one of the criminals, specialized in smuggling narcotic substances, at the Martyr Ahmed Hamdy Tunnel from the east of the canal to the west, where he was promoting the narcotics among his customers using a vehicle.
