CAIRO - 17 December 2020: Minister of Health and Population Dr Hala Zayed met on Thursday with the UAE’s G42 healthcare company CEO Peng Xiao and Chief Operating Officer Mansoor Al Mansoori to discuss supplying Cairo with other batches of the Covid-19 vaccine, Health Ministry spokesman Dr Khaled Megahed said.

The meeting also probed the possibility of transferring expertise related to vaccine manufacturing technologies to the Egyptian Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (Vacsera), as well as exchanging expertise as regards the outcome of clinical researches conducted on Covid-19 vaccines.

The coronavirus vaccine was developed by the China National Pharmaceutical Group Sinopharm with support from the UAE’S G42 healthcare company.

Last week, Egypt received the first batch of the vaccine, containing 50,000 doses upon the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The batch was provided as a gift from the UAE, with the Chinese and Emirati Ambassadors to Egypt present at Cairo International Airport, alongside the Minister of Health, who held a press conference at the batch's arrival.
