CAIRO – 16 December 2020: Egypt’s Episcopal Church is organizing a candlelit party on Friday in celebration of the Christmas this year after cancelling the annual the New Year celebrations per COVID-19 precautionary measures.

The church decided to hold hymns at 7 p.m. Cairo local time, while allowing a specific number of attendees to the ceremony, in compliance with the decision of the Church’s Executive Committee that banned large-scale activities in order to avoid the spread of Coronavirus. According to Archbishop of Alexandria, Mounir Hanna, all precautionary measures including: social distance, masks and disinfectants are maintained.

The Episcopal Church celebrates the Christmas Mass on the night of December 25 at the church’s headquarters in Zamalek.
