CAIRO – 15 December 2020: As the government prepares to move to the New Administrative Capital by June 30, contractors are in race against time to finish the residences of employees that are being built in nearby Badr City.

The second phase of Sakan Misr housing project in Badr City is allocated for that purpose and it spans over 800 feddans for it to encompass 376 buildings comprising 9,024 units. It is noted that only 40,000 out of almost 7.5 million public employees will move to the New Capital.

General Manager of the project Mohamed Tolba told press Monday that the construction of buildings is accomplished by 92 percent, and that the 70 percent of the roads have been paved.

Tolba clarified that the finishing of 150 buildings is over so as they are ready for delivery and that the rest will be ready by the end of March. He pointed out that the project includes all services and facilities like schools, nurseries, sport fields and bakeries.

Each unit is composed of three rooms, and a reception. However, the surface area varies between 110 square meters and 118 square meters. Each building contains six floors and an elevator, and each floor includes four units.

The official highlighted that Badr City is one kilometer away from the Regional Ring Road, which makes the duration of the ride just 10 minutes. Furthermore, the city houses three stations of the under progress electric train extended between Alamein on the coasts of the Mediterranean and Ain Sokhna on the coasts of the Red Sea.

Tolba showcased that the infrastructure and roads of Badr City were revamped over the past four years, and that the constructions sector there has been booming.
