ATICAN CITY - 1 July 2017: Pope Francis of the Vatican praised the courageous steps taken by Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to develop the country at all levels since June 30 Revolution.

The pope expressed deep appreciation for the cordial, humanitarian and political ties the bind him and the Egyptian president.

The pontiff made the remarks while receiving Egypt’s Ambassador to the Vatican Hatem Seif El Nasr to bid farewell to the Egyptian diplomat whose tenure will end soon.

During the meeting, Pope Francis hailed the impetus that was given to the relations between Egypt and the Vatican.

He also highlighted his relations with the Egyptian religious leaderships, topped by Al Azhar and Coptic Orthodox Church.

The meeting reviewed the development that has been achieved in bilateral relations
