CAIRO – 5 December 2020: A marine captain who has been kidnapped by the Houthis in Yemen and released after negotiations with the Egyptian authorities has said Egypt exerted “enormous efforts” to free him.

Captain Farouk Abdel Aal told ON T.V. channel on Friday that the Egyptian authorities “can resolve any problem and reach any Egyptian anywhere in the world.”

Abdel Aal was transported to Aden and then Cairo on Friday after a period of detention at the hands of the Houthis, where he was well-treated.

The Aden Airport was opened just for him, Abdel Aal said, thanking President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi for giving his orders to resolve his ordeal from day one.
