CAIRO - 29 November 2020: Mufti of Egypt Shawki Allam condemned on Sunday killing of 43 farmworkers by Nigeria's Boko Haram fighters in rice fields near the northeast Nigerian city of Maiduguri on Saturday.
The assailants tied up the agricultural workers and slit their throats in the village of Koshobe.
Islam prohibits all forms of aggression either killing or kidnapping, he said, adding that targeting civilians prove that these terrorist groups know nothing but language of destruction.
Extremist groups are taking advantage of the lack of religious knowledge of many residents of remote African villages and towns to spread their doctrine and misleading ideas to serve their goals and lure more suicide elements, he added.
He called for sending more scholars to African nations to fight these extremist ideas, urging the international community to take necessary steps to fight extremism and terrorism
