CAIRO – 19 November 2020: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inspected the Police Academy on Thursday and attended interviews of students applying to join the academy for the new school year, the Presidency said in a statement.

Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik and academy officials accompanied the president.

Sisi spoke with the applicants about their “future aspirations for joining the security apparatus and participating to preserve the nation’s security, especially in light of the developments in the security field over the past period, in relation to the regional and international incidents.”

Sisi also held a discussion with fresh students and listened to them to assess their understanding of essential issues at home, including state’s efforts to advance basic and higher education, provide health services, eliminate poverty and improving citizens’ life conditions.

The president highlighted the “Rule of Law” principle and the importance of enforcing laws concerning all issues, including the issue of building violations.

He affirmed the need to maintain deep understanding and knowledge of the state’s issues from the state’s perspective in order for them to shape and follow the right path to tackle them.

The discussion included the huge influence of social media on society, and the major developments these platforms have witnessed, and the way youth shall correctly and effectively deal with them.

Sisi also explained the state’s significant efforts in establishing huge national projects nationwide, to achieve comprehensive development in the country.

He referred to the project to develop Sinai, given this project’s influence on counter-terrorism efforts, through developing new urban societies, supplied with all services.

The President referred to the great national responsibilities the police apparatus has towards the state and the citizens, affirming the need to select the Police Academy students based on the capability of fulfilling the national tasks, with impartiality and transparency.
