Helwan Univ. denies large COVID-19 infection numbers as rumors

CAIRO – 19 November 2020: Helwan University denied rumors on social media saying that it recorded more than 200 suspected cases of Coronavirus among students.

 

The President of Helwan University Maged Najm indicated in a statement that the total infection case among students are 50 or 60 cases, ensuring that the university is following up on suspected cases, by providing treatment for free.

 

He further stated that the university is taking all necessary precautions, whether in terms of providing the necessary medical devices and equipment or spreading health education among university students or educating them about ways to prevent infection with this virus through the General Administration of Medical Affairs and the College of Medicine at the university.

 

In the same context, a committee was formed to follow up and monitor any violations to the measures is working in full swing, whether on campus or colleges, and deterrent steps are taken in case any violations of the decisions of the Supreme Council of Universities or the University Council are cited.

 

The President of Helwan University called on all students to be careful in dealing with social networking news, and called for not to pay attention to the rumors aimed primarily at creating a state of confusion among university students.
