CAIRO – 15 November 2020: On Saturday, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi checked up on the progress rate of the construction of Egypt International City for Olympic Games located in the New Administrative Capital.

"I proudly followed the amount of achievement and the progress of work carried out by Egyptian loyal hands. I'd like to greet Egyptian workers for their outstanding effort and productive role in accomplishing reconstruction and building," President Sisi said on social media.

Presidency Spokesperson Ambassador Bassam Rady clarified that the city houses a stadium whose capacity is 90,000 fans, and two indoor arenas. One has a capacity of 15,000 fans while the other has a capacity of 8,000.

Further, the city consists of complexes for swimming, horse riding, tennis, squash, various types of shooting, bow and arrow, and martial arts. It also has a hotel to host athletic teams, hospital specialized in sports injuries, parking lot, and a mosque whose capacity is 500 worshippers.

The goal of constructing such city is promoting sports in Egypt, and improving the country's chances in hosting international tournaments and championships for the modern infrastructure it offers.

The president asserted the importance of sticking to the timeline set for completing projects in the New Administrative Capital in tandem with meeting international standards and enforcing COVID-19 preventive measures.
