CAIRO – 13 November 2020: Egypt thanks the countries that decided to resume tourism with the African country, the foreign ministry said in a statement after a meeting with a number of European ambassadors.

The foreign ministry invited other countries to allow citizens to visit Egypt, in light of the strict procedures taken by the Egyptian authorities to secure tourist attractions, which record almost zero coronavirus cases.

Assistant foreign minister for European affairs Badr Abdel Aaty held the meeting with ambassadors from Russia, Ukraine, Albania, Serbia, Georgia, Switzerland, Norway, the UK, Belarus and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting discussed relations between Egypt and each of the European countries, and the ways to enhance these ties in the economic and trade fields.

International flights were suspended in Egypt in March but resumed in July, 2020. Throughout that duration, tens of thousands of Egyptians were repatriated by EgyptAir and affiliate airlines.

Egypt witnessed high tourism turnouts from different nationalities in the first half of October, including batches from France, England, Spain, Ukraine and Belarus.

According to Egypt’s ministry of Tourism, tourists are flocking to Luxor from Hurghada as part of "one-day" trips, to enjoy visiting various archaeological sites.
