CAIRO – 6 November 2020: Head of the National Election Authority (NEA) Lasheen Ebrahim urged masses of Egyptian electorate to cast their vote in the second stage of the House of Representatives’ election, which includes the capital, Cairo.

 

The second phase of House elections are conducted in 13 governorates on November 7-8 for Egyptian citizens inside the country, after it has been conducted for expatriates over three days ending Friday.

 

“Elections constitute the main pillar in consolidating democracy, and your turnout at the ballot boxes is the most telling evidence that you love your country,” Ebrahim stated.

 

The NEA held a press conference Sunday to announce the results of the first round of the first phase of voting in 2020 House of Representatives Elections.

 

Ebrahim stated that the turnout in the 14 governorates included in the first phase is 28.06 percent as almost nine million out of 31 million eligible citizens voted.

 

Regarding lists, the National List for Egypt won in the electoral districts of Upper Egypt (composed of 11 governorates) and Western Delta (composed of three governorates) securing 100 seats in the former and 42 in the latter. It was competing against the Egypt's Call List. 

 

The governorates included in the Upper Egypt Electoral District are Giza (23 seats), Fayoum (9), Beni Suef (8), Menya (18), Asyut (11), New Valley (2), Sohag (13), Qena (9), Luxor (4), Aswan (4), and Red Sea (3).
