CAIRO - 30 October 2020: Egyptian Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir on Friday followed up the implementation rate of the electric train project (LRT) in the 10th of Ramadan City and the monorail project in the New Administrative Capital.

During his tour of the site of the major maintenance workshop of the electric train which is established in Badr City on an area of 60 feddans, the minister asserted the importance of working around the clock and fully sticking to the timetable to finalize the project in a way that copes up with the high quality standards.

Wazir described the project as a new artery of development in the heart of the new cities, noting that the transport capacity of the train is set to be 30,000 passengers/hour/direction, with a total number of half a million passengers to be transported daily.

Afterwards, the minister checked on the progress of work at the monorail project in the new capital which extends for 56.5 kilometers long divided on 22 stations.

Wazir said the total length of the two monorail lines in the new capital and 6th of October city hits 98.5 kilometers with 34 stations, adding that this project is implemented by a consortium grouping Orascom, Bombardier and Arab Contractors.
