CAIRO – 14 October 2020: The harassment-driven murder case of a 25-year old woman in Maadi neighborhood has shaken social media on Wednesday causing uproar among users.

Security sources told local media that the suspect microbus driver implicated in the crime has got arrested, and that the search for the other two is underway.

While walking in Street 9 on her way home, the vehicle got very close to Mariam in an attempt to steal her purse and harass her at the same time. She tried to escape but tragically her clothes stuck on the vehicle's door so she was muddled for tens of meters as the driver was running away. That incurred the ripping of her body and death. The body of Mariam was found by residents on the street.

The Public Prosecution has ordered the autopsy of the victim's body, while security agencies acquired the tapes of five CCTV cameras that belong to shops located at the crime scene.

The police are listening to the testimonies of the owners of those shops and workers in order to determine the description of the culprits.
