CAIRO – 11 October 2020: The Egyptian prominent lawyer Tarek Jameel was released Sunday on bail of LE 300 thousand after being remanded in custody for almost two weeks.

Jameel is accused of joining a terrorist organization and disseminating false information after sharing a video of himself while criticizing the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The video was used by outlawed Muslim Brotherhood’s channels to incite violence and unlawful riots.

The State Security Prosecution has previously ordered to put Jameel under custody for 15 days pending an investigation after the latter was accused of distorting the reputation of several politicians and public figures.

Jameel is a member of Nation’s Future Party’s secretariat and a prominent lawyer who has under his belt several major cases.
