Sisi lays wreath of flowers at Unknown Soldier Memorial

CAIRO - 5 October 2020:  President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi laid a wreath of flowers at the Unknown Soldier Memorial in Cairo's Nasr City district on Monday, in commemoration of the 47th anniversary of October 6 War.

Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki and Chief of Staff Mohamed Farid welcomed Sisi upon his arrival at the Memorial of Unknown Soldier welcomed President Sisi upon his arrival to the memorial, as he laid another wreath of flowers on the late President Mohamed Anwar Sadat tomb and shook hands with numbers of his family members

Sisi also shook hands with a number of senior leaders of the armed forces and placed a third wreath of flowers at the tomb of the late leader Gamal Abdel Nasser.

After the ceremony, Sisi chaired a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces as he congratulated the Egyptian people and the armed forces on the occasion of October victories.

 

During the meeting, Sisi discussed number of files and topics related to the activities and tasks of the armed forces and their efforts in protecting the Egyptian national security pillars on all strategic directions and combating terrorism in cooperation with various state institutions.

Earlier, Monday, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud, sent a cable to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to greet him on the anniversary of the 6th of October war victory.

According to Saudi Press Agency )SPA), the Saudi king wished Sisi constant good health and happiness and his people steady progress and prosperity.

In another cable sent by the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, he congratulated President Sisi on the occasion of the country's Crossing Day Anniversary.

The Crown Prince expressed his best wishes of permanent health and happiness for the President and further progress and prosperity for government and people of Egypt.

On Friday, Hundreds of Egyptians took to streets around the Unknown Soldier Memorials in Cairo’s Nasr City to celebrate the 1973 victory against Israel and to renew support to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Mass celebrations also were spotted all over the governorates, as people chanted for Egypt and president Sisi, holding flags and celebrating the 1973 victory anniversary
