CAIRO – 16 September 2020: Egypt’s Al Wafd Party announced Wednesday that it is going to join the Parliamentary election scheduled to be held on October 24, 25, and the run-off on November 7,8.

The Party’s Supreme Committee said it will run as part of the “National List for Egypt”. The Party’s statement said that the call was taken after democratic deliberations that settled to announce the final decision regarding joining the “National List for Egypt” on Thursday.

In June, The Egyptian Parliament gave final approval on a draft law on the formation of the country’s reinstated Senate, in accordance with the 2019 constitutional amendments, which have been approved by a public referendum.

The Senate election took place in August, 8.959 million voters cast their ballots in the elections according to Counselor Lashin Ibrahim, head of the National Elections Authority and deputy president of the Court of Cassation.
