CAIRO – 13 September 2020: Newly-appointed Consul General of the Russian Federation in Alexandria Karen Vasilian assumed his duties on Sunday, succeeding former Consul General Mr. Rashid Sadikov, reported the Egyptian state-owned news agency.

Former consul Rashid Sidikouf, who left this position after five years and a half, was in charge of the duayen of the consular corps in Alexandria, and handed it over to Palestine’s Consul General in Alexandria, Ambassador Hossam Al-Dabbas, in a ceremony held four days ago.

“The Russian Consulate General in Alexandria held a tribute ceremony and a number of protocol meetings on the occasion of the completion of the duties of Russian Consul General Rashid Sadiqov and delivered to the New Consul General Karen Vasilian. Accredited consul events in Alexandria, Egyptian businessmen and a number of other guests attended,” said the Russian Consulate in Alexandria in a statement four days ago.
