CAIRO – 24 August 2020: Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili on Monday visited the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo’s Fustat, as he embarked on an official visit to Egypt.

Along with Tourism Minister Khaled El Enani, Pololikashvili, who earlier met with the president and prime minister separately, expressed admiration of the museum, saying it would be a comprehensive cultural establishment besides being an archaeological site.

The museum includes a theater, a cinema and a group of cafeterias, which contributes to achieving sustainable development, as museums and cultural centers have a major role in sustainable development by highlighting social and cultural changes in society,

Pololikashvili has earlier invited tourists from around the globe to visit Egypt and enjoy its charming beaches and warm weather.

Pololikashvili’s remarks came during his visit to the Red Sea resort city of Hurghada along with Enani.

By resuming the cultural tourism in September, the tourists could also enjoy visiting the Egyptian antiquities and get familiar with Egypt’s ancient civilization, Pololikashvili said.

He also hailed the precautionary and protective measures taken by the Egyptian government to halt the spread of the pandemic.
