CAIRO - 20 August 2020: The committee investigating a claimed leak of Vodafone Egypt customer data is working around the clock to release its report as soon as possible, Minister of Communications Amr Talaat said Thursday.

Only hours ago, a Facebook account claimed that customer data at Vodafone Egypt have been leaked, which the company denied. Vodafone also said it has reported the issue to the Supreme Media Regulatory Council, labelling the allegation "slander."

The fact-finding committee is affiliated with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority, and is tasked with investigating any reports of violations in the communications market as a means to preserve customer rights and scrutinize the performance of companies in the field.

By March, Vodafone Egypt customers amounted to more than 45 million subscribers from a total of 96.42 cellphone users.
