CAIRO – 19 August 2020: An official at the Ministry of Health and Population revealed in a phone-in Tuesday the progress achieved on the implementation of the initiative launched by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi in July 2018 to carry out surgeries and medical procedures to all patients on waiting lists immediately.

Executive Director of the Ad Hoc Committee on Waiting Lists Elimination Khaled Atef stated that 453,000 surgeries and medical procedures were performed. The cost of each varies between LE10,000 and LE350,000.

Given that the open heart surgery is very common, the official indicated its average cost, which is 50,000. The other recurrent procedures are cancer and spine surgeries, liver transplants, and cochlear implantation.
