Official speculates COVID-19 infections in Egypt hit 0 mid-September

CAIRO – 16 August 2020: After the remarkable decline in daily identified cases, Member of the Scientific Anti-COVID-19 Committee at the Ministry of Health and Population Ahmed Shawki told Al Watan Sunday that the infections may hit 0 by mid-September.

 

Shawki highlighted that the percentage of recovery at quarantine hospitals has become 61 percent, and that the need for ventilators has decreased. Moreover, many hospitals that were turned into quarantine centers got back to regular work.

 

On August 15, Egypt recorded 116 cases and 17 deaths bringing up the total to 96,336 and 5,141, respectively. Until present, 58,835 have recovered.
