CAIRO – 14 August 2020: Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli would pay an official visit to Sudan on Saturday, reported the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) on Thursday.

Madbouli would chair a delegation to discuss cooperation in all fields of electrical interconnection, roads, railway connectivity, higher education, trade and industry.

The Egyptian delegation includes the Ministers of Water Resources and Irrigation, Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Trade and Industry.

Both countries are establishing an electricity linkage. The first phase of the linkage was officially launched earlier this year after experimental operation was carried out successfully.

The following phases will enter service gradually in tandem with the rate of accomplishment on the Sudanese side, a source at the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy told Egypt Today.

Egypt and Sudan have unified vision regarding the controversial Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) as the Ethiopian side abide by the international norms and laws regarding the operation and filling of the dam reservoir without causing harms to the Nile downstream countries.
