Elwi made the remarks as part of his statements to MENA as the first Egyptian aircraft of the relief airlift landed at Beirut airport on Thursday.

The ambassador noted that the Egyptian aid that would consecutively arrive in Lebanon is set to include planeloads of medications, medical supplies, medical teams, foodstuffs, in addition to large contributions in the field of building and reconstruction.

The Egyptian plane that arrived today is loaded with some 9 tons of medications and medical supplies; as per the real needs listed by the Lebanese side, he said.

The second phase of the airlift will include 20 tons of foodstuffs, particularly wheat with the aim of compensating for what has been lost of Lebanon’s strategic reserve, he added.
