CAIRO – 21 May 2020: "The Egyptian government will grant compensation to those who will be evacuated to build a corridor named after Saudi King Salman bin Abdel Aziz in Giza’s Haram district," announced Mahmoud Nassar, head of the National Reconstruction Authority.

In a phone call with “Al-Hikaya” talk show on MBC channel last week, Nasser said that around 20,000 square meters have been taken from residents who will be given LE 250,000 in compensation.

"The 12-kilometer route will link between Haram and Faisal districts to reduce crowding," he said.

The construction works started in June 2019 to connect northern Giza with the southern part of the governorate above El-Zomor Canal.

Last week, social media users slammed the government for constructing the corridor to be adjacent to residential houses.

Some users said the construction of the road is the worst ever.
