CAIRO – 23 June 2017: In an exclusive interview with ON Live channel on Thursday, Pope Towadros II declared that he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with him last month about different issues related to Egypt.

"There is nothing I talk about during my foreign visits except issues pertaining Egypt’s affairs. Egypt is of particular importance to all countries, and the whole world is passionate about it."

Putin asked Pope Tawadros II during the visit to pass his sincere regards to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, expressing how much he admires the Egyptians and the Egyptian president describing him with ‘’the brave man.’’

Pope Tawadros II added that he had been informed that he was awarded the Orthodox Unity Award from Russia during his visit to Italy and he granted the award to the new administrative capital cultural center.

Pope Tawadros II during the interview referred to Minya terrorist attack, saying that it was painful and caused bleeding in the hearts of all the Egyptians, but yet it increased national unity.
