Egypt’s 1st lady praises nursing workers efforts to prevent COVID-19 spread on their int'l day

CAIRO – 12 May 2020: Egypt’s first lady extended her greetings to workers in the nursing field, Tuesday on the occasion of their international day.

“These kind hand work, embodies the highest meanings of sacrifice and compassion. They are best aid and support for their country in such difficult circumstances, as they set an example for hard working.” Egypt's First Lady Entissar al Sisi wrote on her social media accounts.

She added that their courage and altruism pushed them to be in the front lines battling to prevent the spread of the virus.




Earlier on Tuesday, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi extended his greetings to workers in the nursing field, on International Nurses Day marking May 12.

The president expressed appreciation and respect for nurses on behalf of himself and the Egyptian people for "the precious sacrifices they make in order to fulfill their humanitarian duty honorably and zealously."

The president highlighted that nurses, at this arduous phase, are proving their competence and loyalty towards their homeland and people.

The Nursing Syndicate announced on Tuesday the sixth death among its members because of COVID-19 in addition to 55 infections. The Syndicate's chairwoman, Kawthar Mahmoud, stated that Egypt has 250,000 nurses who offer 70 percent of care to in-patients at medical establishments.

Egypt recorded during the past 24 hours, 347 new coronavirus cases and 11 deaths, which raises the total infected patients of COVID-19 to 10,093 and the total deaths to 544 according to Health Minister’s daily briefing.
