CAIRO – 5 May 2020: The Egyptian-American Reem Desouky was released from prison in Egypt after she spent 301 days in detention over a list of charges that includes spreading false news.
Prosecution drew accusations against Desouky, including: joining a terrorist group, disrupting the provisions of the constitution, and harming national unity.
On Sunday Desouky, an art teacher, arrived with her son at her home in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
The security forces in Egypt arrested Desouky last July at Cairo International Airport while she was returning from the U.S., in implementation of the prosecutor's decision to arrest her and bring her for investigations over the case in question.
