323 Egyptians to return home after completing quarantine in Marsa Alam

CAIRO - 19 April 2020: A total of 323 Egyptians, who returned from the United States a couple of weeks ago, left the Red Sea resort city of Marsa Alam after finishing their 14-day quarantine at a hotel in the city.

Before boarding their plane to Cairo, passengers underwent medical checkups by the Red Sea health directorate's medical committee, said Ismail Khalaf, director of the quarantine department in the Red Sea governorate.

They also had their luggage sanitized before moving to Marsa Alam International Airport by buses in groups to avoid large crowds, he added.

Meanwhile, Red Sea Governor Amr Hanafy stressed that all precautionary and preventative measures have been taken as per the directives of the political leadership to provide all necessary facilitation for Egyptians returning from abroad.

On April 5, the second exceptional EgyptAir flight coming from Washington to Marsa Alam landed at the airport.

Egypt has suspended flight movement since 19 March and until April 15, except for cargo flights, charter flights to enable tourists’ return, ambulance flights and internal flights.
