CAIRO - 17 April 2020: Egypt's Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli extended his Easter greetings to Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese.

In a cable, the premier wished all Egyptian Copts a happy Easter, according to a statement from the cabinet on Friday.

The Prime Minister held a press conference on Thursday to announced the government's new decisions for the Easter holiday that falls next Sunday, and for Sham El-Nessim on Monday.

Madbouli announced the complete closure of public gardens and beaches next Monday, along with suspending public transportation, including Cairo Metro and National Railways.

“We understand the Egyptians desire to celebrate the holiday; however, these decisions come for the favor of Egyptians amid fears of Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak,” Madbouli said.
