Egypt's mufti thanks Sisi, state institutions, medical crew for anti-COVID-19 efforts

CAIRO, April 13 (MENA) - Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam profusely thanked President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for his wise leadership of the country in these exceptional circumstances.

Allam also extended special thanks to all State officials and institutions, medical crew for their cooperation and efforts to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

In statements on Tuesday, Allam also paid tribute to doctors and nurses, describing them as the "white army" in reference to their white lab coats for fulfilling their duties to the fullest.

On Monday, Allam urged this year's umrah pilgrims to donate charity to those affected by coronavirus pandemic, needy persons and irregular workers.

In March, Saudi Arabia decided to temporarily suspend Umra (minor pilgrimage) to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The mufti called for giving charity in times of crises as it relieves the distress of those in need.

In a published motion graphic video, Dar al-Iftaa called for alleviating the people's sufferings and fulfilling their needs.
