CAIRO – 13 APRIL 2020: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli offered Sunday his condolences to the family of a female doctor who lost her life after contracting the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The government’s premier had a phone call with the family of doctor Sonia Aref to offer his condolences and apologize on behalf of all Egyptians after the outrageous refusal of the locals of Shubra al-Bahw village, in Dakahlia- the deceased doctor’s hometown- to have her buried due to fear from coronavirus.

Madbouli promised Aref’s family that those who refused the burial of the doctor will be accountable for their actions.

In his phone call with the deceased doctor’s husband, Madbouli said that he speaks as an Egyptian citizen to offer his sincere condolences and apologize on behalf masses of the Egyptian people for the disgraceful action committed by the locals of Shubra al-Bahw.

Madbouli praised the efforts and sacrifices made by Egyptian medical doctors amid their battle to contain the spread of coronavirus.

On Saturday, Locals of Shubra al-Bahw village, in Dakahlia [ Egypt’s Delta], protested the burial of the doctor who died of Coronavirus as they feared of infection with the virus if she was buried at the village cemeteries.

However, the security forces dispersed their protest by using tear gas bombs to bury the 64-year-old doctor.
