CAIRO 10 April 2020: War-torn Yemen confirmed on Thursday evening the first case of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), announced the Yemen Supreme National Emergency Committee for COVID -19 in its official Twitter account.

The case was recorded in Hadhramaut Governorate, the committee added, noting that a press conference will be held later to announce further details on the confirmed case.



The World Health Organization in Yemen announced that the case has been quarantined and is receiving medical care, adding that all people close to the patient will be subject to medical tests.




As yet, the global cases infected with the virus reached more than 1.6 million people and 97,298 deaths were reported, while the recovered cases rose to 366,444. On March 10, 2020, the virus was announced a global pandemic by the World Health Organization.
