PARIS - 21 June 2017: President of France Emmanuel Macron attended an Iftar celebration held by the French Council of Muslim Faith on Tuesday night.

Addressing the guests, Macron affirmed that the coming battle will be against terrorism and extremism urging Imams of mosques to adopt a moderate Islamic speech.

He thanked Islamic figures in the country for condemning the terrorist attacks in France that killed 239 people since 2015.

Minister of Interior Gérard Collomb attended the Iftar.

Macron said the fight against Daesh requires the arrest of those who attempt to use mosques for promoting violence and hatred.

He called for confronting religious practices that lead to isolation and affirmed the need to groom imams in France to preach in a way that conforms to the values of France.
