CAIRO - 3 April 2020: Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad said a total of 6,926 tons of wastes have been removed in four governorates as part of the ministry’s efforts to adopt infection-control measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The move was made in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development, Fouad said in a statement Friday.

The ministry launched a number of campaigns in Kafr el-Sheikh, Assiut, Qena and Gharbiya governorates to maintain cleaning and raise people’s awareness about how to deal with and dispose of solid wastes.

The move was made through the National Solid Waste Management Program (NSWMP), the minister added.
