CAIRO - 21 March 2020: Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Technical Affairs Mohamed al-Tayeb told Egypt Today that remote learning is taking place in an integrated way and that professors are strictly ensuring that students are taught the curricula.

The ministry has been upgrading the infrastructure of public universities for a year and half before class suspension amid the coronavirus outbreak. The total value of the digitalization and e-learning project is LE4.3 billion, while that of the first phase, which includes the digital platforms used in remote learning, is LE1.5 billion.

The Egyptian Ministry of Defence deployed on Tuesday troops to spray disinfectant in Cairo’s schools and universities as a precautionary measure against Coronavirus as per the directions of the President Abdel Fatah al Sisi.

The general commander of the Egyptian Army and minister of defence, General Mohammed Zaki, ordered the army’s chemical war department to follow all the precautionary measures against Coronavirus by executing a plan that includes disinfecting universities, schools, vital institutions, and crowded streets.

The chemical war department dispatched mobile sterilization vehicles and soldiers donning protective gear to eliminate chances of infection among the students and teaching staff of Cairo’s schools and universities.
