CAIRO - 19 March 2020: Immigration Minister Nabila Makram announced on Wednesday that the ministry sent 30 buses on Thursday morning to Qastal border checkpoint in Sudan to bring back home stranded Egyptians.

The move is part of precautionary measures taken by Egypt to combat the spread of coronavirus.

The buses will be supplied with meals, water bottles and other necessary items for the passengers' convenience, she said.

She added that the ministry is on constant contact with Egyptian students and nationals who are either studying or living in Sudan to answer back any query they have about the virus or measures taken by the country to look after them.

On Tuesday, Egyptian Ambassador to Sudan Hossam Issa said an agreement was reached with the authorities in Sudan to open all border crossings exceptionally for two days to bring back home Egyptians stranded there.The decision is applicable on individuals and trucks, he added.
