CAIRO - 16 March 2020: The total cases, which tested positive for coronavirus, reached 126 on Saturday, including 26 cases who had been recovered,according to the ministry's spokesperson Khaled Megahed on Sunday.

He added that five novel coronavirus (COVID-19) patients were discharged from hospital after receiving necessary medical care, increasing to 26 the total number of recovery cases since the country announced the detection of its first case of the disease.

He added that 16 confirmed cases were detected, including eight foreigners and eight Egyptians.

All of them had been in contact with previously confirmed cases, except an Egyptian national returning from Italy, Megahed said.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in Egypt stops at two, he added.

The Health Ministry raises its preparedness at all the country's ports and airports to monitor the virus developments.
