CAIRO - 14 March 2020: President Abdel Fatah al Sisi directed the government to embark on a raft of measures aimed at increasing income of workers to raise their standards of living.

Sisi made his directives during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el Saeed and Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait.

The president ordered the bodies concerned to disburse a regular bonus for employees addressed by the Civil Service Act and others at 7 percent of the gross salary of public servants and 12 percent of the basic salary of other workers.

Sisi also called for increasing income tax exemption cap for all employees with salaries ranging from EGP 8,000 to 15,000 annually.

He further directed the government to introduce a new tax bracket 2.5 percent lower for those whose annual income is less than EGP 35,000 to help low-income households.

The deputy finance ministers for fiscal policies and public treasury were also in attendance along with the deputy planning minister for planning affairs.
