School in Cairo closed after parent contacted Covid-19-infected person

CAIRO - 13 March 2020: The City International School at Cairo’s Zamalek district has been closed as a precautionary measure after a parent of one of the school students has contacted a foreigner, who then tested positive for coronavirus, the Ministry of Education said in a statement Thursday.

The ministry added that the school students, teachers and headmasters were required to self-isolate for 14 days.

This measure comes in light of the health and education ministries’ keenness to ensure the safety of students as well as of the education minister’s declaration of a plan to combat the spread of coronavirus, the statement said.
