Latvian is keen on boosting cooperation with Egypt

CAIRO - 20 June 2017: Latvian Ambassador to Egypt Iveta Sulca expressed her country's keenness on promoting cooperation with Egypt in the higher education field.

This issue was discussed with Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Ehab Nasr during his recent visit to Riga, Ambassador Sulca said in statements to MENA on Tuesday.

The two sides discussed activating the scholarship programs funded by the two governments, as well as the possibility of increasing the participation in joint scientific research projects and the European project, she added.

Recently, the Egyptian Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry submitted a memo to its Latvian counterpart on the mutual recognition of diploma taken in Latvia, Sulca said.

The number of Egyptians studying in Riga increased to 43 students in 2017, compared to 24 students in 2016, she noted
